When couples ask how much a destination wedding in Italy costs, the first question shouldn’t always be: What’s your budget?

It should also be: How many guests are you inviting?

A €30,000 budget for 20 people and the same budget for 80 people can create two completely different weddings.

The region, venue, season and number of events matter too, of course. But guest count is one of the biggest factors in determining what your budget can actually buy.

So instead of looking at numbers alone, let’s look at a few realistic scenarios.

These aren’t packages or fixed quotes. They are examples designed to show how differently the same budget can work depending on the wedding you want to create.

€30,000 for 20–25 Guests: A High-Quality Micro Wedding

A €30,000 budget for 20–25 guests can create a beautiful, highly curated wedding in Italy.

With a smaller guest list, you can concentrate your budget on quality: an exclusive venue, excellent food — potentially even a Michelin-starred chef — sophisticated floral design, photography, music and carefully chosen details.

Depending on the venue, you may even be able to cover two or three nights of accommodations for your guests.

Of course, not everywhere. If your dream property costs €5,000 a night, the numbers change quickly.

But this is exactly why a micro wedding shouldn’t automatically be considered a budget wedding.

A smaller guest list doesn’t necessarily mean a smaller wedding. It can mean a better experience for every guest.

€30,000 for 70–80 Guests: A Very Different Story

Now keep exactly the same budget and increase the guest list to 70–80 people.

Everything changes.

Depending on the region and venue, €30,000 may cover a one-day venue rental, a symbolic ceremony, wedding dinner, DJ, simple floral design and photography.

But there may be little or no room for an open bar, videography, extensive decor, guest accommodations or additional events.

And professional wedding planning still needs to be included.

Can it be done? In some locations and under very specific circumstances, perhaps. But for most destination weddings, €30,000 for 70–80 guests means significant compromises and very careful priorities.

This is why simply asking “Can I get married in Italy for €30,000?” doesn’t tell us enough.

€50,000–€60,000 for 70–80 Guests: A Complete Destination Wedding

At around €50,000–€60,000, the possibilities become considerably broader.

For 70–80 guests, we can begin to imagine a more complete destination wedding experience: a simple welcome dinner for everyone, a good-quality wedding dinner — perhaps around €180 per person — an interesting floral and design budget, DJ, live musicians for the ceremony, open bar, photography, videography, stationery and professional wedding planning.

Depending on the venue and region, the couple may also be able to cover two or three nights of accommodations for their closest family members.

There are still choices to make. But the budget begins to have enough room for the different elements of the wedding to work together without every decision becoming a sacrifice.

€70,000–€80,000 for 70–80 Guests: The Full Wedding Weekend

Now we’re moving into a different kind of experience.

With €70,000–€80,000, depending on the region and venue, it may be possible to rent a property with accommodations for all 70–80 guests for around three nights — provided, of course, that we’re not talking about an ultra-luxury property where accommodations alone can absorb a substantial part of the budget.

This opens the door to the full destination wedding weekend:

Welcome dinner. Wedding day. Farewell brunch.

Alongside excellent catering, floral design, DJ, live ceremony music, photography, videography, wedding planning, bridal makeup and hair, stationery and an open bar.

The real difference isn’t simply that you can add more things.

You have more freedom to choose quality without constantly sacrificing one important part of the experience to pay for another.

So, What Is the Right Budget for Your Wedding in Italy?

There isn’t one.

That’s the point.

A couple with €30,000 and 20 guests may have far more freedom than a couple with the same budget and 80 guests. A €70,000 wedding can feel generous in one region and surprisingly restrictive at an ultra-luxury venue in another.

Before deciding whether your budget is “enough,” define three things:

your guest count, your priorities and the kind of experience you want to give your guests.

Then choose the region and venue accordingly — not the other way around.

Because the smartest destination wedding budget isn’t necessarily the biggest one.

It’s the one that matches the wedding you actually want to create.
